95/365

I hear there's a stomach flu going around (source: my pediatrician). On Sunday morning when Leila woke up for her early morning feeding, she projectile vomited everywhere after she finished her bottle. She soaked our bed, the floor, and my slippers. An hour later so woke up crying and it had turned out she threw up again in her crib. It was a bad morning for the princess. She had a fever of 101.8! We gave her Tylenol and the fever went away but came back later that night and the next day.

I called my pediatrician on Monday and spoke to the nurse. I gave them her symptoms: vomiting, fever, lack of desire to eat, runny nose. The nurse said to give her tylenol for the fever every 4 hours. She also said to give it 5 days and if she doesn't get better then to come in on Thursday. Well, the next day wasn't much better...

Leila was still throwing up about every time she drank her milk (not when she at solids). I called my pediatrician again early this morning and spoke to the same nurse. She said, "oh, well if she's vomiting then she shouldn't be drinking dairy including formula". Really? You couldn't have told me this yesterday?!? She said to give Leila pedialyte or watered down grape or apple juice. Great, I didn't have any of these items and today's my all day shift at work. I'm in the office from 8:30-6:30 and can't leave. Luckily, Emily came to my rescue and picked up some pedialyte AND apple juice for me. Thanks em...you saved the day! I put some pedialyte in a bottle and she hated it. I gave her some apple juice and she wasn't having that either. I finally gave her some pedialyte thru a straw and she drank about an ounce that way. Leila wasn't getting enough fluids in her body and didn't have very many wet diapers. Instead of having a full diaper when she woke up, it was just a little wet. I was so concerned. She just looked so drained and not herself. I didn't know what to do. I called my sister because she always has the answer. She came up with the brilliant idea of diluting her food with pedialyte. Genius. It totally worked!

I have a lot to do in the office and Leila needs lots of attention. Sometimes its hard juggling work and a baby. Add sick baby to that and I don't know what to do. Obviously, Leila comes first and is more important but I still need to get my work done and help tenants as they come in.

When my father-in-law, Mike, heard that Leila was sick he came down right away. He is in the process of finding a job and I'm so thankful he made the time to come down and watch Leila. Mike was such a huge help, he was able give Leila the attention she needed while allowing me to get my work done. I really don't know how I would have done it without him. Thanks a million Mike!

It snowed today. I left Sandy this morning with half an inch of snow on my car. When I arrived home there were at least 6 inches on the ground...was not expecting that at all because I was wearing flip flops. So I put on my boots and shoveled the driveway...couple hours later it melted. Gotta love that about February snow. Melts in the blink of an eye. Excited for Leila to be old enough so we can play in the snow and build snowmen together, carrot nose and all.

It was pretty slow at work today so I started messing around with my new camera. I love it, I'm addicted. I can't stop taking pictures because everything looks so much more crisp and bright through the lens of my Nikon. I'm still learning.

Playing peek-a-boo....love how Leila's peering over waiting for me to pop out. That Nikon is pretty heavy...no more self portraits for us so we improvised with the mirror. Hope to get a remote soon.

We had our neighbors over for dinner and ended the night with homemade cookies.

34/365

I've been here all day today...
and will be until 6:30.
Blah!
Leila is just hangin' around.
That jumper will usually keep her entertained for about 15 min,
enough to get me some work done until her nap time.
I heart nap time.

Highlight of my day today:
After almost 48 hrs of being frozen,
my pipes finally thawed.
Alleluia, I can make
dinner tonight.
(this happens several times during the winter,
and no I can't wrap my pipes).

By the way, this sunny weather is deceiving. Its gorgeous out and there
isn't a single cloud in the sky. Want to go for a stroll but I don't dare in this
22 degree weather ("feels like" 13).
Can I just say I'm so glad January is over.
It's always the coldest month out of the year and now that its over it
just means that
spring is that much closer.

I mean, there are only 28 days in February.
And it's going to fly by because we
have 2 reasons to party hardy this month:

1. The obvious...Valentines day! (we usually do something fun and the hubs can be a romantic when he tries).
2. The hubs' birthday is on the 24th. Yay! We already got the Tucano's birthday coupon in the
mail and I can't wait to use it! I love me some meat fried meat with meat sauce.

New Year's Eve and Paint

So we've moved...not too far, only down the street a bit from our old house. We moved so we can manage a storage unit. The perks you ask? Our neighbors and riding a golf cart! This is the 4th house we've lived in during our almost 3 years of marriage. Sadly, in our many homes we've never gotten to know or really even enjoyed our neighbors, so this was a real treat!

For new years we had a painting party with Emily, Dylan, Christina, and Andrew (Jackson was sleeping). The office needed a desperate paint job so we decided to spend our new years painting...what better way to start the new year than with a clean/crisp office for 2009! Painting was quite the adventure!

Look at us ladies doing all the hard work...just kidding, the boys helped too. They made sure all the electronics were nicely put away and re-connected after we painted. Who knew it takes 3 macho guys to get a fax machine working again?
After painting the office we needed some energy, so we headed to Christina's for a break and chowed down on pizza and chocolate cake from Magelby's for dessert! After the break we had to get back to painting, I got paint all in my hair, see the nice white stripe in my bangs, I was trying to get behind the toilet then bonked my head on the freshly painted wall, not a good idea. Note to self: when painting behind the toilet wait for the wall to dry before leaning your head against it! Two minutes later I got paint all over my bun! I was the only one who got paint everywhere, Christina and Emily are the experts. I stuck to the taping part, can't really mess that up.

We were supposed to stop at midnight to celebrate the new year and bust out the sparklers, fireworks and sparkling cider, but we were so into painting we worked straight through midnight. So we celebrated around 1:00am or so...CHEERS!
Emily set the timer on the camera so we could all take a group picture, right before it went off I spilt my cider all over myself, hence the surprised look on our faces...2 seconds later Emily spilt her drink all over too...oopps!!
There are a few things I'd like to better myself at this year: I'd like to spend less time in front of the tube, read more books, spend more quality time with my hubby, keep better in touch with friends near and far (a phone call never hurt anyone), pick up yoga so I can work on my meditation and relaxation, be better at daily scripture study, eat out less, work out more (need to get rid of my muffin top), eat healthier...I'll work on this for now.
Happy New Year!
