for freeeeee???

We got these babies for freeee! (quote Adam Sandler in Bedtime Stories).

We didn't win these beauties...and we didn't have to pay a dime for them.

My new Ginsu knife set and my new Rachael Ray 10 piece cookware set came due to the hard work of my husband. Eric worked long hours for them. Best Buy offers a reward program for selling certain items, the more items you sell from that list, the more points you receive. He doesn't sell things from that list intentionally, but if he does then he gets points. This place - not affiliated with Best Buy - offers everything from books, to expensive jewelry, to toys, to car seats, to 12 person Jacuzzi tubs, to trips, to cars, to appliances...I think I made my point. We've been thinking long and hard about what we wanted to get with the points he'd earned because we want to spend them already.

At first Eric was going to buy me this beautiful Michael Kors rose gold watch that I've been eyeing forever, I told him to be selfish and use the points on him since he earned them, not me. Then we were going to get an over the range microwave for our new kitchen, then a kitchen aid, then Eric wanted a shuffle board, but we ultimately decided on a new cookware set. Boring? Kinda. But we're coming up on 6 years of marriage and I think we need to throw another party because everything we own is falling apart.

Our pots and pans were disgusting and some of the non stick was coming off in our food - sooo not healthy. Our knives were dull, our sheets are ripping to the point that we just need to throw them away, our towels have seen better days, our blender doesn't blend, I could go on.

So we decided on a necessity. Eric wasn't as excited as I was but I swear the man enjoys cooking more than I do so it was a win win - such a good guy. I am loving these new items in our kitchen. How domestic do I sound to enjoy getting new cookware...over a list where we could chose anything. Well, I'm sure most people would enjoy new cookware so I take that back.

There were many cookware sets to chose from but we chose Rachael Ray's hard anodized cookware set because of the reviews. Stainless steel is too high maintenance for us and we wanted something safe that wouldn't leek into our food like aluminum. We've had them for 2 weeks now and I love cooking so much more. I almost don't want to use them because they are so pretty and perfect. Our last set had so many scratches and I don't want these to turn that way. That's why I'm babying them.

Did you know that you're not supposed to cook anything above medium heat on the stove because it can warp your pans? And it recommended to put paper towels in between your pots and pans when you store them as not to scratch them, doing that too. What else, oh, we all already know that we need to wait til the pan cools before washing it?

We had extra points so we got a knife set and I'm so glad we did. Wow, I had no idea what I was missing out on. They cut anything like butter. Enough said.

I'm one happy wife. Happy wife = happy life.

Big thanks to my hubby for working so hard, very proud of him! Our next goal is to get that 12 person hot tub, but it's like 50,000 points! No pressure babe.

I'm beat and ready for bed. It's been a long day. I wanted to stay up until midnight to welcome Eric's 28th birthday. Don't think that'll be happening. Sorry babe...actually, I doubt you'll last that long either. Right now I'm sitting on the couch with my laptop and Eric is calculating his calories for the meal I just made (teriyaki chicken bowls). He will soon join me with his laptop too. We have become so disconnected with technology.

Eric is testing out the new camera...everything looks so crisp!
It's almost 9 and we just put Leila down for the night. We got a late start because I brought her to the enrichment activity with me (recipe swap) to give Eric a chance to play some xbox. Our normal night is as follows: bathe Leila around 7:30/8, feed her, swaddle her, sing to her, put her down. Then its time for out alone time, we cuddle on the couch and watch the tube (The Bachelor, HGTV, Food Network) and are in bed by 11ish (could be asleep before then because we are so exhaustpiped...we really have become lightweights).

For the past 3 nights Leila has slept from 8pm-7:45am straight! A full nights rest feels amazing, but somehow I still feel sleep deprived. She used to wake up at 2am and 5am for her feeding. A month ago I started weaning her off the 2am feeding. It took about 3 weeks off and on (I wasn't super consistent). Last week she only woke up at 5, and this week at 7:40. Leila is finally learning to sleep thru the night. I never thought the day would come because she is a stubborn girl and doesn't like change. Hope I'm not speaking too soon, it's only been a few nights. The past 2 nights I have woken up around the same time waiting for her to wake up... and nothing. I find myself going in to check if she's still breathing. I hope this lasts, I will be one happy momma. Once she starts sleeping thru the night I'll start weaning her off being swaddled.

It's late. I'm out. Peace.

One of our frequent trips to Best Buy. We're always finding ourselves here for
one reason or another.
Imagine that.

Fall is just around the corner!

We've already started getting our fall line in at Express! Crazy...it's too hot to wear half the stuff we have in the store but I want all the sweaters. For fashion, my favorite season is definately fall. I'm looking forward to wearing big bulky sweaters and warm scarves. I love the heat of summer but am I ready for Fall - after our california summer vacation of course!

New Hairscut

On May 28th Eric finally decided to "prove" to me that he wasn't too much of a pansie to shave his head... A few weeks before, we had been at Greg and Jalaine's (our best buds) house and got talking on the subject of shaving heads (Greg's been shaving his for years) and I told Eric he was too pansie to do it. Well, those were fightin words and it eventually turned into a nice little bet over the following days. Eric had never shaved his head before in his life, and my comments DEFINATELY pushed him over the edge this time! Come 12:30 am, Eric finally decided to man-up and do it... Greg was delighted to do the honors....

And this was the end result... now i can't wait for it to grow back so he doesn't look like such a "tough-guy". It's taking some getting used to for the both of us... We'll just hafta see if he keeps it up now.
