memorial day

Woohoo for 3 day weekends! Eric had it off and we knew exactly how we wanted to spend this extra day together...swimming! It was a little too chilly in the afternoon (I'm a whimp) so we took swimming inside and hit up the indoor pool at the Murray Recreation Center.

The family came over in the evening for some pizza from only the best pizza in Utah, The Pie, and we ended the day with a nice, relaxing stroll down the street to Cold Stone.

We are so grateful for those men and women who served and are serving this great county, so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we do.

mother's day

All I wanted for Mother's Day was to get a good picture of me with my daughter. This is the best I got. Leila screaming trying to get out of my arms.

I woke up to the delicious smell of breakfast cooking. Eric was so sweet and let me sleep in while he and Leila made pancakes. Eric surprised me with the gold Sperry's I've been eyeing for years. The rest of the day was spent at church and home for a delicious BBQ with the family. Then I read books to my sweet Leila, tucked her in bed, and snuggled with my hubby. Not a bad gig. It was a happy mother's day indeed.

so last month

Easter was so last month and it's old news. But it's impossible for me to move on and forget about posting our Easter happenings...I just can't leave Easter behind in the dust. Especially when we did so many cute activities like Easter baskets, an Easter egg hunt, dying eggs, and dinner at Sugarhouse Park. All new to Johan and Nadja. It was nice to show the kids our traditions and have them here to share in the festivities with Leila.

She picked up on the concept of Easter eggs and so loved finding eggs and sticking them in her basket. Except she wanted to eat everything inside them all at once.

Here's the obligatory family photo in our Sunday best:

Leila loved twirling in her new Easter dress...a tradition my mom did for the girls every year and one we'll keep doing. A new dress makes Easter that much more special.

Those kids are the most well behaved, obedient (and spoiled) kids ever. I'd totally adopt them and keep them forever if I could. Johan is hilarious and takes after his dad, always telling jokes and stories. Nadja and Eric are buddies and always have been since the moment they met (back when we were dating, not even engaged!). I have like 20 pictures over the years of just the two of them...glad to see their bond is still there and even stronger. Eric loves Nadja so much because her Spanish is the only one he can understand. Ha ha, she's the only one the speaks slow enough for him to understand. But Johan is another story, he speaks way too fast for Eric. They are waiting for us to go visit them in Mazatlan, we'll be there next summer for sure! Having family here forced me to speak Spanish 24/7 and was really good at speaking Spanish to Leila. Now that they've left I've fallen back in my old ways.

vd

vd this year was perfect. why? because eric took the day off work to spend just a normal day at home with his two favorite girls. we didn't have anything special planned because eric wanted to do the things we normally do on a tuesday.

that was the most thoughtful gift he could give us. i mean, who doesn't want to spend more time with their hubby...and on a weekday. it was lovely.

loving the balloons
i woke up to eric by my side in bed and flowers in the kitchen. i attempted to make a romantic, heart themed breakfast in bed but that doesn't really work with a toddler, so we eric made us yummy spinach feta omelets.

thanks to pinterest, i found the perfect amount of "cheese" for eric's gift. grabbed a balloon for each year we've been married and tied a little note with a treat/gift corresponding with the reason why i'm grateful for him.

the only thing on the agenda was wiggle worms at the library because that's what we do on tuesdays. we didn't ever make it because leila decided to take an early nap and slept right through it. while she napped we played around with a new app erin showed me.

don't mind the spelling error. it was 10am and i was still half asleep. if you can't tell these are pre-shower and post-shower pics.

after 2.5 hours of napping, we decided to wake her up so we could go to lunch and have an afternoon date at a bounce house place. please ignore the blurry iphone pictures.

at the last minute, we decided to go to dinner and a movie because grandma offered to play with leila. big miracle = A++++!

i like valentines day.
