176/365

There are few sports that get us pumped, we're not ones to sit home and watch sports on T.V. but live soccer is awesome! Going a Real game is on our list of summer musts. When we saw the Groupon we snatched it right up and called the Gunnz to join us.

Rockin' our Mexican soccer jersey's adds to the excitement. One day we'll throw down for Real jerseys and you know I'm gonna get Beckerman's jersey because he's in my "celebrity 5".

We were on the edge of our seats for almost the entire game, it ended 3 to 1. Guess what celebrities we saw - if you can even call them celebrities - the crew from Extreme Home Makeover sponsored that nights game and did some fundraising because they are building a home for Jonah in Daybreak, he is an extreme soccer fan.

slc vs. san jose

Friday we went to the Real game. I was stoked because they were playing the San Jose Earthquakes. I wasn't sure who to cheer for, San Jose (20 min south of my hometown and where I was going to go to college before I moved to Utah) or my current town...I ended up cheering for Real, of course. We got awesome seats (only paid $9.50 each on U92's website instead of $30 on Real's for the same exact seats). We were next to the band...they are so full of energy, and as usual, are non-stop. I just love the band because they set the tone/mood for the game and get everyone - at least us - amped for the game.
We received American Flags at the entrance of the game to celebrate the 4th of July, and had fireworks at the end of the game. They played patriotic songs during the firework show, it made me feel very proud to be an American.

The score was 1-1. The Earthquakes scored in the 2nd half of the game and Real scored in last 5 min, so it was pretty intense towards the end.

a couple first's for me...

Last Thursday was a big day for me...I got MY FIRST TICKET EVER! I'd been pulled over once before in california for supposedly "swerving". The cop thought I was drunk so he pulled me over. I went over the white line once, maybe twice. I freaked out when he pulled me over, I was a little more calm b.c Eric was with me, but I thought if I ever get a ticket I don't know how I'd react, especially alone.

Well, the day finally came where I got a ticket. I seriously thought I'd be 30 or so before I did because I'm such a safe driver, I'm always checking my speed and always on the lookout for cops, it's just natural for me to do that. Eric hates my driving b.c he says I drive too slow. Well, this time there was so much on my mind that I wasn't even thinking about my speed or the speed limit...and that's what got me into trouble. Here's how it happened:

I driving down the road going to my internship (with the Truancy Officer/Social Workers at Provo School District) when I was thinking about all the things I have to do. As I'm driving I see the flashing school zone lights (20 mph) and it doesn't even register to think to slow down or check my speed. As I'm trying to switch lanes I see a cop with his lights on behind me, my first thought was "oh, I'd better get over so he can pass me, oh wait, he might be pulling me over". So I pull over and sure enough he follows me! I had no idea how fast I was going. Surprisingly enough I was calm and not nervous at all.
The first thing he says is "Did you even see the first school zone sign?" He was a pretty cool cop, I joked with him, made light conversation, and chatted, but it didn't get me out of my ticket. He joked around too but wasn't sympathetic at all. So I bet you're all wondering how fast I was going...DRUM ROLL...31 in a 20 mph school zone. 11 over, but he was nice enough to give me 9 over (same as going 1 over). He gave me the paper to sign and I asked him how bad it was, he didn't even know, he said I have to call! How lame is that? But luckily I can go to traffic school...yay for traffic school! I was actually excited that I got my ticket, a new experience b.c now I fit in with the cool kids, I didn't let my ticket get me down, what good is that going to do? I'm just bummed I can no longer say "I've never had a ticket!" Eric is glad I don't have bragging rights anymore!

To add to my list of firsts and to make my day better I get a call from Eric later that day saying we're going to the Jazz game (pre-season) with his work. I was psyched! I'd never been and of course always wanted to go! This was going to be TEN TIMES BETTER because it was FREE and we got to sit in the SUITE just for Best Buy - perfect view, comfy seating, and best part of all, great food!

They were playing the Phoenix Suns and Shaquille O'Neal now plays for them...so I was a little star struck. When I think of Shaq I think of his huge round superman bed from MTV's Cribs. He is huge, and his feet are even huger...this picture shows the size comparison to him and a normal person. Check out their feet...I still can't get over it.

During the game the Jazz bear came to our suite and attacked us all with silly string...it was all over the place. Hilarious and unexpected! Again, I was star struck...I love the Jazz bear (mascots in general). It was a good game, close, but the jazz lost by 7 points, 96 to 89.

San Francisco

I love the City, so of course, our next stop on our trip was San Francisco. Since my parents had to work and could only take a few days off work, we ventured off into the city. When Eric came to visit me while we were dating, we went to S.F. and did Lombard street, Peir 39 and walked to Golden Gate Bridge. This time we visited new places (along with the usual). Eric had never been to Treasure Island, which is the Island the Bay Bridge goes through. It is a perfect view of the city...but always windy and cold. While we were there, Eric saw a family from the Philippines (about 8). He was nervous but I told him to go talk to them...he asked them if he could take a picture of them in English, then said "are you all going to fit" in Tagalog...they were shocked of course that a white boy was speaking Tagalog - even better than one of the kids there. They were kind enough to return the favor and take a picture of us. They chatted for a while and we were on our way to more sights.

We tried to go to Peir 39 to see if we could get on a boat to Alcatraz...turns out we needed to book it 5 days in advance. That was a disappointment so we left and went to the Marina by the Golden Gate Bridge. It's so pretty here...a lot warmer than it looks. Just a little misty. The Palace of Fine Arts is right there so we stopped to take some pictures. I love this place because of its beautiful Greek and Roman architecture...it's under construction now so its not as breath taking.

One of my best friends, Vanessa, from middle school and high school lives in San Francisco and goes to USF, so we made plans to go to dinner and a Giants game (Go Giants!) with her and her boyfriend. She lives right next to the Conservatory of Flowers so we hung out at the park until she got off work.
We were hungry so next stop was dinner, what better place than the Cheesecake Factory. There are many delicious places to eat in the city but since Danny had never been there, we had to go.

Eric has never been to a major league baseball team so this was the perfect time to go. We're all Giants fans and we converted Eric to be one too. They played against the Florida Marlin's and lost. Vanessa jinxed them because she said they were going to lose...and they did! We left at the end of the seventh inning stretch and the score was 7-0. LAME!!

We didn't finish everything we wanted to do in the City, so we went back again the next day to go shopping (haight, shops on Mission...and more). We also needed to get the famous sundaes at Ghirardelli Square...it was amazing.

We love to people watch so after our sundaes we sat around and did just that. We even witnessed an accident. As you can see, Eric looks quite amused checking out what all the camotion was about. No one got hurt (if someone did it wouldn't be amusing), but a car was trying to parallel park on this steep hill and it looked like she forgot to put her car in park because when she was done parking she ran into the car in front of her...all we heard was a loud crash/bang. Everyone was staring, we felt so bad but it was just hard not to watch. I was scared we were going to have the same problem going up the steep streets in a stick...but Eric is a pro and wasn't too scared (or at least didn't show it).

Real Soccer Game

We've been wanting to go to a Real game all summer, and finally we got to go. We went when we first started dating and haven't been since - so it was about that time. We went with Eric's family...parents, brother greg and girlfriend shasta. Shasta got good seats so we got a great view...if you know what I mean.

Eric's mom, him, me, Shasta

Greg and Shasta

I've got a hot husband, but watch out for those soccer players, especially #5: Kyle Beckerman.

Dreads (on some) are hot. Eric wants to get dreads now. What's with him wanting to do all this crazy stuff to his hair?? First he wants to shave it, now dreads, what's next? I should just keep my mouth shut.

After the game they had a ton of fireworks, so it kinda made up for neither team scoring a goal! LAME!!
