When my mom told her work that she was moving to Utah in the summer, I knew it was for real. I've lived in Utah for almost 8 years now and it's finally home to me. But Utah's always been missing one thing (aside from a beach and warm weather year round): my family. I'd never leave this state if my family was here, and now they will be. Seriously. Can't. Wait.
My brother's been here for almost a year, and my parents will be here this summer...watch out Utah, the Stevens are moving to town! It's about the get crazy!
It couldn't have worked out more perfectly. And it's not like I won't have a place to stay when we go back to the Bay because Ana will never, ever move. Are you kidding me? Surrounded by Mormons and liquor laws, I don't think so. Jimmy's in Oregon too so we'll still pay California a yearly visit. My friends back home think I'll never see them again, but I will. They're all getting married so we'll have excuses to go back for weddings too.
This deal is set in stone because my parents came to visit us during Spring Break so my dad could start looking for a job and a place to live. It was supposed to be just the 2 of them but a couple weeks before they came my dad told me my Tia Mery and my 2 cousins were coming too. Turns out Nadja and Johan had spring break in Mexico so my aunt (their grandma) decided to take them to visit my parents and tour San Francisco for their 2 week vacation. Since my parents already planned to come here they'd spend a week with us and a week in SF.
That meant it was crunch time for us to get our house in order (again) to allow 5 people to stay here for a week. We had a landry list of things to do and we did all it less than a week. There's nothing like getting your but in gear when the pressure's on. Storage room was cleaned (not an easy task), downstairs organized, garage cleaned out. Done, done and done. I'm glad our house is big enough to accommodate 5 people too...in actual beds.
It was going to be a party in our house! When they arrived that's all we did was party, stay up late playing games and eating great food.
Leila loved Nadja and Johan from the moment she met them and she loved having Abuela here.

My mom's way of relaxing is laying on the floor with her feet elevated on the couch. She looked so comfy we couldn't resist and had to |
After only a couple days here, something came up and my parents had to drive back to California sooner than planned. I was sad they had to leave so quickly...the party was just getting started. The kids were having so much fun with us that they didn't want to go back so soon, so they stayed an extra week and flew to SFO instead.
